Oil in the form of gasoline and diesel is primarily delivered by oil tank trucks from large tank farms to local distribution outlets.

The most familiar distribution outlet is a gas station – at last count, 12,285 of them were operating in Canada.

Heating oil is similarly delivered by truck to residential, commercial and municipal buildings where it is stored in above- or under-ground storage tanks.
