In 2010, the Albertan agricultural sector
consumed 48,629,000 GJ and
emitted 44,838,890 GHG tonnes.
Most of the energy (78.18%) consumed by this sector is required to operate trucks and equipment. Diesel and gasoline, which are manufactured from crude oil, are therefore the predominate fuel sources. Of the balance of energy consumed, electricity makes up 14.32% and natural gas makes up 6.86%.
