Electricity provides 23.70% of the energy consumed by workplaces, shops, recreation centres and public buildings in Manitoba. It powers light fixtures, elevators, pumps and compressors as well as computers, photocopiers and fax machines. Electricity is also used for space conditioning and hot water heaters.
In 2010, the commercial / institutional sector
consumed 19,302,000 GJ of electricity and
emitted 12,089 GHG tonnes.
