In 2010, industry 
consumed 27,054,910 GJ of coal and
emitted 2,316,014 GHG tonnes.
 
All of the coal consumed by New Brunswick's industries is used to generate electricity. Since electricity generation makes up a large part of the provincial industrial base when looking at energy consumption, coal equates to 15.41% of total industrial energy use.
