Electricity provides 20.46% of the energy consumed by workplaces, shops, recreation centres and public buildings in Newfoundland and Labrador. It powers light fixtures, elevators, pumps and compressors as well as computers, photocopiers and fax machines. Electricity is also used for space conditioning and a few water heaters.
In 2010, the commercial / institutional sector
consumed 8,350,409 GJ of electricity and
emitted 36,702 GHG tonnes.
