consumed 16,661,290 GJ of oil and
emitted 1,216,219 GHG tonnes.
 
Nearly all automobiles, buses, planes and trains run on gasoline or diesel. Gasoline and diesel are made from oil.
 
Oil is the source of 25.72% of the energy consumed by industries in Newfoundland and Labrador. Electricity generation, forest products and oil and gas production are the largest users of oil.
