Natural gas is mostly transported over long distances by pipeline. Canada has about 78,000 km of natural gas transmission lines.
 
But then again, there's LNG.
 
We export about 50% of our natural gas to the United States. Many of our pipelines therefore go all the way to California and Texas.
 
Pipelines range in size from 50 cm to more than a metre in diameter. The gas moves along at about 40 km an hour. Read more
