Electricity provides 30.27% of the energy consumed by workplaces, shops, recreation centres and public buildings in Quebec.  It powers light fixtures, elevators, pumps and compressors as well as computers, photocopiers and fax machines. Electricity is also used for space conditioning and a few hot water heaters.
 
In 2010, the commercial / institutional sector
consumed 129,285,200 GJ of electricity and
emitted 371,296 GHG tonnes.
