Natural gas is the source of 3.33% of the energy consumed by individuals in Quebec. Very few households use natural gas to heat their homes (7.62%) and water (9.26%).  Natural gas is also being used by a few bus and rail companies for public transportation.
 
In 2010, the residential sector
consumed 20,708,620 GJ of natural gas and
emitted 1,167,482 GHG tonnes.

The other 92.38% of home furnaces?  Electricity (57.17%), wood (21.51%) and oil (13.70%) are popular choices, but there are other options too … geothermal and solar, for example
