Natural gas is delivered by pipeline.
Local distribution companies (gas utilities) take bulk gas piped to them by wholesalers.
The distributors then pump it into a distribution main (at reduced pressure) and deliver it to service lines connected directly to individual customers.
Saskatchewan's gas utility operates 63,000 km of distribution lines.  If laid end to end, they would circle the earth's equator 1 1/2 times.
In 2010, pipelines consumed 40,577,560 GJ and emitted 2,545,855 GHGs tonnes.
