The refining sector in Saskatchewan includes heavy oil upgraders, asphalt plants and an oil refinery.
 
In 2010, the Saskatchewan refining sector
consumed 17,462,660 GJ and
emitted 1,126,498 GHG tonnes.
 
Saskatchewan's refineries use coke (an industrial byproduct) for about three-fifths of their fuel needs. Natural gas (27.39%), electricity (3.12%) and oil (0.50%) make up the balance.
